Get prepared for a hands-on career in the welding workforce. Moraine Valley provides training from certified welding inspectors who are industry professionals and offers welding classes for all skill levels. Students are trained under the current industry, structural steel, pipe, and pressure codes.

Many of our graduates have gone on to work in the Pile Drivers Union, Meyer Tool and Pipe fitters Local 597.

This program is approved for dual enrollment. The Dual Enrollment Program allows you to take classes at Moraine Valley and earn college credit while you're still in high school (with permission from your high school guidance counselor).

Welders are employed by manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance and construction companies. They are important to help ensure the safety of the infrastructure in communities by repairing and rebuilding bridges, highways, buildings and more.

Trained welders are required due to new government regulations and personal safety requirements that dictate stricter codes. Also, more products have emerged requiring certified and qualified welders.

Moraine Valley certificates will help you be more marketable.

Employment of welders, cutters, solderers and brazers is projected to grow 2% from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations. The nation’s aging infrastructure will require the expertise of welders, cutters, solderers and brazers to help rebuild bridges, highways and buildings.
